Biking - road ride

If you’re willing to tough it out through the traffic between town and the M Trailhead, this ride up Bridger Canyon will reward you with stunning views of Montana at its best: bucolic wheat fields and horse pastures with a background of the stunning Bridger Mountains. Head north out of town on Rouse, and follow it as it curves to the right, becoming Highway 86. From town, it’s a beautiful 15-mile climb up to the turnoff for Bridger Bowl Ski Area, a nice turnaround destination before the grin-inducing decent back into town. This ride offers a lot of flexibility; a right hand turn onto Jackson Creek Road leads into Livingston, whereas continuing straight will lead you (via Highways 89 and 12) into White Sulphur Springs. The road itself is pretty sunny and can get some traffic, especially at the southern end, so it’s best to tackle this ride in the early morning.

Went for a nice ride out Story Mill Road. After getting off Rouse and Bridger Canyon Road, the traffic was very mild. Spotted what I think was a juvenile Cooper's or Sharp-Shinned Hawk on a fence post. Take advantage of these nice cool days to get some longer rides in before the heat of summer really kicks in!

A new ATV trail is under construction west from the Battle Ridge campground. We rode about 7 miles up the trial until we reached the work site. Nice views, nice trail. Trail should be open all the way for trail bikes.
