Of the 17,500 museums in the country, less than 5% of them are accredited by the American Association of Museums, and Bozeman’s “MoR” is one of them. The Smithsonian-affiliated museum’s revolving exhibits are quite good (sometimes fabulous), the recently suped-up planetarium deserves a few cheers, and the natural history exhibit is full of, well, history, anecdotes, artifacts, and don’t miss the Living History Farm on the museum grounds, especially when the homesteading “family” is in residence. But it’s no secret what sets the MOR apart—dinosaurs. The museum boasts an unbelievable paleontological exhibit that includes the world’s largest exhibit of dinosaur fossils and research.
If you're looking for... more local options to meet your appetite for museums, the Gallatin Historical Society's Pioneer Museum and American Computer Museum are both intellectually scrumptious.
Cost: Adults are $14, and kids 5-17 are $7.50.
