A sign in the cool-clucker venue reads: “ROOST - Southern by birth; in Bozeman for the trout fishing.” In full candor, the menu is one-dimensional, and the emphasis on fryers and meat is difficult to dodge, but what they do, they do as well as anyone outside of Dixie. If you like southern cooking, sweet tea, and a little bite in your fried chicken, Roost is a fun and fabulous lunch spot.
If you're looking for... that fabulous and funky creole restaurant—Cafe Zydeco—that formerly presided over the Roost space, they're still in business. Just follow Main Street west, and you'll find them in the old hatchery building across from the mall, where College meets Huffine.
Prices: Half a chicken cost $11.50 with sides, and the Alabama sandwich is listed at $7.25.
