First night in town? Aleworks. Parents visiting MSU? Aleworks. Business dinner? Aleworks. Meeting friends after a long day of teasing trout or harvesting powder? The list of social situations befitting a night at Montana Aleworks is long, but we really keep going back for the food. A fantastic venue in a reconstituted railway siding, the diverse selection of great food (steaks, fish, burgers, pasta, Tex-mex, nightly specials, and plenty for veg-heads), local infusions in recipes like morel mushrooms (June) and wild game and fish, all those regional beers to choose from, and hands-down the most reliable staff in town. Two caveats, the wait for a table often tops an hour, presenting a problem for families. Reservations are recommended. And they're not open for lunch.
If you're looking for... another trendy spot downtown that IS both less crowded and open for lunch, it's Starky's.
Prices: Covering the spectrum from the $8 wedge salad and happy hour selections to $30 entrees.
